Ability of citizen astronaut candidates to perform egress from a spacecraft and ingress a life raft

Orion is a NASA spacecraft being developed for human exploration of the Moon and Mars. Crew Dragon commercial used to transport astronauts from International Space Station (ISS). Both are similar design both perform water landing following re-entry. This study evaluated ability Institute Astronautical Sciences (IIAS) Citizen Astronaut Candidates (CAC) egress mock-up wearing commercially available intravehicular activity (IVA) spacesuit manufactured by Final Frontier Design (FFD) (Anderson, 2014; Barker Bellenkes; 1996; Rubio et al., 2004). suit those worn traveling ISS on board Dragon. Mobility assessment revealed that most participants had sufficient ranges motion tasks successfully. In some instances suited were unable selected proficiently, but in these this often stemmed difficulty achieving stable upright position water. Seat ingress evaluation no significant problems with anthropometric accommodation across participants.
